The difference
Focus Mode reduces visible context. Split View deliberately keeps two contexts available.
Focus Mode is for local work
Finishing a scene, rewriting a difficult paragraph or drafting from scratch often benefits from fewer controls and fewer neighboring structures.
Split View is for relational work
Compare a chapter with notes, keep reference material visible, inspect two nearby sections or revise while looking at another part of the project.
