Everyone says, thank you to the doctors - of course, thank them very much! A lot has been written about doctors, so I won’t dwell on this in detail. And if doctors are fighting the virus on the front line, then here I want to talk about the soldiers of the invisible front - IT specialists.
I sincerely don’t understand why no one praises IT specialists? They are also fighting the virus and the effects of the pandemic, sometimes on a larger scale and volume. Your well-being and the well-being of your loved ones now depends on these nondescript people. And business owners additionally bear responsibility for their subordinates, their well-being and survival.
Besides, without them we would have nothing to pay doctors and other specialists in the medical industry, because there would be no one to collect taxes from or payments would simply not reach the budget.
And if interaction with Clients stops, this will lead to a stop in the flow of funds to the organization. This interaction also fell on their shoulders, because we need effective solutions and technologies (preferably free) yesterday.
It is especially difficult for IT specialists if the company’s technologies were previously poorly developed. They are now required to choose a technology, implement it and learn how to use it... And it is advisable to do all this in a few hours.
By the way, many IT giants, realizing the burden that fell on the shoulders of IT specialists, met the companies halfway and made some services free. A good opportunity to try technologies in combat mode for free and make a further decision about their use.
A significant plus of the current situation is no one resists automation, the introduction of new technologies and solutions, and competent top managers will certainly take advantage of this. It’s always like this - some problems open up opportunities to solve others.
It seems to me that the most instructive conclusion that can be drawn from a large-scale pandemic for business is if you don’t have modern technologies, then your business is doomed. The virus doesn’t just hint to us about this, but openly says: “Hey, next time I won’t be so lenient towards your business.”
Having dug ourselves into cozy offices, it seems like we missed the arrival of a new technological revolution. I hope that after the self-isolation regime is lifted, you will frantically rush to implement modern technologies. BUT! Be smart and don't implement technology for technology's sake.
